What the critics are saying

One More Dead Fish has an outsider advantage, doing what reams of videotape on the issue have not: it goes well outside the Canadian fisheries policy quagmire and situates the well-worn crisis in a much larger global context.

Cool article about One More Dead Fish

The Chronicle-Herald, Nova Scotia’s biggest newspaper, just did an interesting article about our film. A little heavy on the celebrity-lifestyle fluff, but some good content in there. I’d love to see a writer discuss how our film demonstrates convincingly how an alliance between businesspeople and the environment will invigorate long-term profits while safeguarding natural resources.

Another thing which really gets me is the elitism of so many environmentalists. One More Dead Fish owes most of what’s interesting in it to my Dad hanging out on the docks with fundamentalist Christian fishermen with gun racks on their pickups and learning from them! The Audubon Society set has failed to listen to – and learn from – the people, and that’s one reason our natural resources are in such a sorry state.

Here’s some analysis from writer Murray Whyte in the Ideas section of Canada’s biggest newspaper, the Toronto Star:

One More Dead Fish has an outsider advantage, doing what reams of videotape on the issue have not: it goes well outside the Canadian fisheries policy quagmire and situates the well-worn crisis in a much larger global context.
